Travel Resources

There are tons of travel resources. From booking flights to experiences, it can be quite overwhelming. We want to help you plan and book the best possible trip. The below resources are those we continually come back to. We use these resources when planning our own personal travels and encourage you to do the same!

Flights

Google’s search engine for flights. This is probably the easiest way to search flight routes and connections. This is usually the first place we start our research!

This is usually how we score all of our crazy flight deals. If you have flexible trip dates and are looking to save on airfare sign up for Scott’s Cheap Flights email notifications.

Another great search engine for flights! You can search for your specific dates or filter by cheapest days/months to travel. They also have hotel & car rental search options.

Airfarewatchdog will send you great deals from your home airport. You can have notifications set for specific routes or all deals associated with your home airport.

Accommodations

Stay with a host or have the whole home to yourself! Airbnbs are a great way to stay in cool, local parts of the city for a fraction of the cost of hotels usually!

VRBO stands for ‘vacation rentals by owner.’ Think condos, beach houses, and cabins! This is an especially great resource if you are traveling with a large group.

One of our go-to search engines for hotels around the world. They have a great selection of affordable accommodations and their site is user-friendly.

Similar to Booking.com this is another great search engine to check – especially if you are a budget traveler and are pricing out all of your options.

Transportation

Everyone has their preferred car rental company – our is typically Avis (or sometimes Budget). We don’t get too fancy with car rentals!

A handy site that tells you how to get to your destination, whether by car, train, bus, ferry , the cheapest.

Travel all across Europe with a Eurail train pass! Nik used Eurail when he spent 30 days traveling throughout Europe.

Planning & Inspiration

Rick Steves is the man! He is the face for European travel for Americans. Every time we are planning a new European trip we immediately purchase his book on the country. Download his walking tours – they are great!

Lonely Planet is our other go-to for guidebooks. They have guidebooks for all over the world and a very rich website with lots of content to help you plan your dream trip!

Tripadvisor is the world’s largest travel guidance website. We use their site often when trying to figure out what experiences/things we should do at our destination.

We have done a few airbnb experiences abroad and have enjoyed them so much! This is a great way to experience something unique and support hosts from around the world!

Matt is one of the original travel bloggers. He has SO much useful content to help you travel ‘smarter, cheaper,  and longer.’ His content typically skews towards backpackers, but any traveler would benefit from his site.

Brian Kelly, the original Points Guy, is a single source for all things points, miles, airlines and credit cards . Learn how to travel for close to nothing. Everyone wants that!

Kara and Nate are a Tennessean couple who have been traveling the world full-time since 2016 and documenting their travels on YouTube. They have been to some pretty amazing places and are so fun! We just want to be best friends with them.

Another one of our favorite travel YouTube couples! Jess and Stephen are an Australian couple traveling the world full time. Stephen is a phenomenal videographer and Jess is hilarious. Plus, they just had a little girl, Hunter, who is precious!

Pinterest isn’t just for recipes and crafting! We find a lot of great inspiration and tips from other travel bloggers on Pinterest!

If you ever needed inspiration to go travel the world do yourself a favor and follow their Instagram page! We love their travel guides and use them for restaurant recommendations often!
